WASHINGTON, D.C. – The City of Brownsville and the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation have been awarded a $900,000 federal grant for renovations of the Casa del Nylon Building to create the eBridge: Center for Business and Commercialization, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced today. This project is within an Opportunity Zone created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a designation created to bring investment and jobs to targeted communities. The funding comes through the Economic Development Administration (EDA).
“The thriving Rio Grande Valley economy will become even more vibrant with the help of this new project,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I’m proud to have supported this Opportunity Zone through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and I’m grateful to the Trump Administration for supporting economic development in south Texas.”
