Brownsville, Texas – Monday, September 23rd, 2019. The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), the Type B Economic Development Organization for the City of Brownsville announced the launch of its new corporate brand identity, redesigned logo, and website. These changes come at a time when the organization is beginning to invest in small business development, entrepreneurship, and community development.
“We’ve taken feedback from our stakeholders and as an organization we have come to believe our biggest quality of life project is our community’s human capital.” said Josh Mejia, Executive Director. “Our new logo better communicates what BCIC stands for today.” In addition to the quality of life projects the organization has been known for, the new brand reflects the organizations new investment initiatives that will define the economic development role BCIC plans to serve to add to the competitiveness of Brownsville.

Designed to work effortlessly across digital and physical channels, the new logo design focuses on the positive direction the City of Brownsville is undertaking. The emblem pays homage to the community and economic development aspect of the organization. The two colors each represent community building and economic development, bridged together with an arrow symbolizing the upward growth and momentum taking place in Brownsville.
The newly-redesigned website features easy-to-navigate pages while providing a seamless user experience. The site also better highlights the full suite of services BCIC offers including the Downtown Business Improvement & Growth (BIG) Grant, the StartUp Texas Grant, Economic Impact Grants, and assistance with state and federal incentives to assist businesses achieve their commercial and expansion goals.
“While our name remains the same, our logo and website have changed significantly to better represent who BCIC is and what we plan to provide for our community,” commented Nathan Burkhart, Director of Marketing at Small Business Development. “The new branding emphasizes our desire and ability to improve our community, while also paying homage to our past endeavors.”
