Frontera Leadership Institute: The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) and LMNTS Launch a Life-Changing Leadership Program
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – June 14, 2024— The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) is excited to announce the launch of the Frontera Leadership Institute, a transformative leadership and entrepreneurial program designed for first-generation college students in Brownsville. Info sessions for the program have started, with more sessions planned to provide potential applicants with all the details they need to join this life-changing opportunity.
The Frontera Leadership Institute, administered by LMNTS, offers a comprehensive three-month program that is free to the community with support from BCIC. The program aims to equip students with essential technology, product development, leadership, and entrepreneurship skills. These skills are applicable not only to entrepreneurship but also to achieving success in any career path or life situation.
Starting on August 19, Frontera Leadership Institute features a hybrid schedule with flexible classes on Fridays and Saturdays. Participants will receive one-on-one guidance from industry professionals, work in collaborative teams on innovative projects, and build a network of like-minded individuals and lifelong friendships.
Key program dates include the application deadline on July 27, 2024, and the program duration from August 19 to November 7, 2024.
Information sessions with lunch provided will be held at the eBridge Center, 1304 E. Adams St., Brownsville, TX. These sessions will give potential applicants an overview of the program and its benefits.
The sessions are scheduled for the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, June 18 at 12 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 18 at 5 p.m.
- Thursday, June 20 at 5 p.m.
Nathan Burkhart, BCIC Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, emphasized the program's significance: "The Frontera Leadership Institute represents our commitment to the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs in Brownsville. By providing these students with the tools and mentorship they need, we're investing in the future of our community."

To further engage with the community and provide more information, the Frontera Leadership Institute will have a booth at this Saturday's Brownsville Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon (June 15, 2024). Attendees are encouraged to visit the booth to meet the team, ask questions, and learn more about the program.
