The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), in partnership with Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension, will host an “Introduction to Government Contracts” workshop. This event is designed to help businesses learn how to add government contracting to their current business model and navigate the State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program.
The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and will take place at the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization, located at 1304 E Adams St, Brownsville, TX 78520. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
The session will feature Megan R. Rodriguez, Community & Economic Development Agent for Willacy County with Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Program, who will share key insights into the benefits of government contracting and the importance of the HUB certification. "Getting HUB Certified in Texas is more than just a credential—it's a gateway to new opportunities, fostering diversity and inclusion in the business community while empowering minority and women-owned businesses to thrive in public sector contracting,” said Rodriguez.
This informative session will provide a comprehensive overview of government contracting, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to pursue and secure government contracts. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the intricacies of the bidding process, compliance requirements, and strategies for successful contract management. The workshop will also specifically address how businesses can leverage the State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program to enhance their competitiveness and access opportunities within the public sector. This program aims to increase opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses in state contracting.
