Other speakers included Dr. Mostafa Malki, AAF’s director for business development, Jeff Hoffart, Houston-based welding automation manager at Fronius USA LLC, and Liz Sanchez from Tech Ranch Austin.

In his remarks from the podium, Li said it is important for his department at the university to get to know local manufacturing sector leaders and entrepreneurs.

“It is very important we work together with you to grow a strong manufacturing ecosystem here,” Li said. “As a university, we sometimes apply to a federal agency for grants or funding to support what we are looking to do here. So it’s very important that we talk to you directly to know what the local needs are, so we can align our work with what we want to become in the future.”

In a posting on social media later, Dr. Li wrote: “America’s Additive Foundry Consortium, in partnership with America Makes, concluded a successful awareness and entrepreneur training event in Brownsville. Grateful to Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation for hosting the event.”

Li added: “Exciting developments in advanced manufacturing and entrepreneurship. Explore new business prospects in advanced manufacturing with us. Join the journey towards tech-driven entrepreneurial success.”
